Bryson DeChambeau’s quest to win a third US Open ended in disaster at Oakmont as he missed the cut after a shocking finish to his second round.
DeChambeau had battled all day and looked to be right on the cut line as he approached the final stretch at Oakmont.
However, a double bogey and two further bogeys in his final five holes cost him big style and he is heading home after carding 10 over par for two rounds.
For DeChambeau, the disappointment of missing a cut after such a good 2025 will sting.
Still, while Rory McIlroy was once again slammed for missing media duties, DeChambeau appeared to maintain his reputation as one of golf’s good guys in the aftermath of his exit.

Bryson DeChambeau maintains his reputation after US Open exit
Bryson DeChambeau is very much a man of the people in the modern golf era and his win at Pinehurst in 2024 was very much inclusive of golf fans.
Since then, his YouTube channel has gone from strength to strength and he has become one of the most engaging figures in the game.
Indeed, after his round yesterday, DeChambeau was straight to the range to work on his craft but even more importantly, he was out there giving the fans what they wanted.
Before going to the range, DeChambeau was seen signing gloves and balls for fans, very much in keeping with his reputation.
In a post shared by golf journalist Claire Rogers, the American can be seen handing a glove to a fan just before he goes to get some more reps in.

Bryson DeChambeau is golf’s poster boy of 2025
Forget any split between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour and who is top dog on each side. When it comes to the whole package, Bryson DeChambeau is the main man in professional golf right now.
Sure, he might not be quite as skilled as a Scottie Scheffler but when it comes to everything rolled into one, DeChambeau is streets ahead.
He plays the game in the right way, is entertaining to watch, and always seems to find time to be engaging and open with fans and media.
Yes, he appeared to skip media duties to get a practice session in yesterday but that is very much an anomaly for DeChambeau.
Right now, the PGA Tour would love to have him back and if there’s even a snippet he could leave LIV Golf, they have to be all over convincing him to return.
