It was an agonising end to the season for Wesley Bryan, with the 34-year-old missing the cut at The RSM Classic to leave himself projected to miss out on making the top 125 on the PGA Tour.
Wesley Bryan was the man in that crucial 125th position heading into this week at The RSM Classic. Of course, it is those inside the top 125 in the FedEx Cup standings who keep their card on the PGA Tour for the following year.
And it did seem that the 2017 RBC Heritage winner was on course to make the weekend in Georgia. His opening round of 70 put him at two under par. And as he reached the 13th tee of his second round, Bryan found himself level par for the day.
Unfortunately, bogeys on 13 and 16, as well as an eventful double bogey on 14, meant that Bryan finished the day at one over par for the tournament. And it was those from one under par who will tee it up on Saturday and Sunday.
Wesley Bryan now projected to fall out of the top 125 on the PGA Tour
Bryan is now projected to fall to 127th. And with no opportunity to move himself up the standings, it does indeed appear that he will miss out on securing a card for next year.

Bryan took to social media after the round to comment on what looks set to be a disappointing conclusion to the year…
What the future could hold for Bryan after The RSM Classic
Of course, the last thing Bryan will probably want to hear is how the success of his YouTube channel will soften the blow if he is no longer a member of the PGA Tour.
But Bryan definitely has plenty of options available to him. Obviously, he may look to regain his tour card at some stage in the future.
His talent is clear to see. Bryan tied the course record with a 61 at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship this month. And he has won on the PGA Tour before.
And his popularity is likely to open plenty of doors. Fans were annoyed Bryan’s course record was barely shown on the coverage. And it really does appear that YouTube golf is having more and more of an impact on fans of the sport.
Hopefully, there is plenty more to come from Wesley Bryan in the years to come.
