At a time when many golf fans appear to almost check out and stop caring too much about what goes on on the PGA Tour, Wesley Bryan did his absolute best to create a buzz at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship on Saturday.

Of course, Wesley Bryan is currently fighting to keep his card on the PGA Tour, with the 34-year-old starting the week outside of the top 125 in the FedEx Cup Fall standings. And he was off to an unspectacular start in Bermuda as he posted rounds of 67 and 71.

However, with one round to go, Bryan is very much back in the mix after the 2017 RBC Heritage champion matched the course record on Saturday. Bryan made six birdies and two eagles on his way to a 10 under par 61.

The score moved him 42 places on the leaderboard to fourth. Meanwhile, he is just three shots behind the current leaders Andrew Novak and Rafael Campos.

Golf fans annoyed after Wesley Bryan ties the course record at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship

While Bryan is fighting to keep his card this season, he is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in the field. Of course, his YouTube channel with his brother George – who was also in the field this week before missing the cut – has more than 460,000 subscribers.

So when it appeared that Bryan was about to do something special, you would have thought that the PGA Tour and the broadcasters would look to follow his progress closely.

Bryan went out in 29, and got himself to seven under par for the day on his 11th hole. And yet, barely any of the coverage focused on Bryan’s round – which has clearly annoyed a number of fans.

A real missed opportunity from the PGA Tour

Given that the Fall season rarely attracts superstar names, it appears to be a real missed opportunity. Not only would fans have appreciated the chance to watch Bryan try and chase down the outright course record, but you would imagine that some viewers will have been put off watching further coverage of these kind of events if they feel that the players they care most about are largely ignored anyway.

With that, here is how some golf fans reacted to Bryan’s piece of history on Saturday…
