The fate of Wesley Bryan was undoubtedly one of the main storylines heading into The RSM Classic, with the 34-year-old going into the week in 125th spot in the FedEx Cup standings on the PGA Tour.

The PGA Tour probably could not have wished for a better stage to be set before The RSM Classic, with both Wesley Bryan and Joel Dahmen amongst those right around the cut line in the FedEx Cup standings.

But while Dahmen made the cut and then produced a stunning 64 on Sunday to keep his card, it was a disappointing week for Bryan in Georgia. The 2017 RBC Heritage winner struggled in the wind at Sea Island and would not make the weekend.

Of course, the tournament was pitched as the decisive moment in the careers of many. Dahmen was clearly emotional after making the putt which ensured that he made the cut.

Whether Wesley Bryan will play on the PGA Tour in 2025

But speaking to Nate Edwardson Golf, Bryan suggested that he is still expecting to get the chance to tee it up on the PGA Tour in 2025 despite falling out of the top 125.

“I’m pretty much in the same spot I was last year. I was a conditional tour member for the, I don’t know, eighth straight year it’s going to be, so I’ll dabble, I’ll play a little bit, don’t really know what the schedule’s going to look like,” he said.

“I want to have a little bit more of a plan in place for next year; whether it be sponsor’s invites or tournaments that I know that I should get in on my number, I want somewhat of a plan going into it and try and stick to it as best as possible. Whereas this past year, I finished second down at the Dominican and I started getting into basically everything, it was just flying by the seat of my pants.

“I’d like to get a plan in place. As far as how this fall went, really my golf game has been in a fantastic spot, I was missing a lot of cuts with what I felt like was a game in the past that would be good enough to compete and contend every single week.”

Why the PGA Tour should be delighted to have Bryan involved in 2025

Certainly, it would be wise for a number of sponsors to extend invites to Bryan in 2025. Ultimately, the Fall season highlighted how difficult it can be to attract fans when the superstars of the game are not involved.

So for those events that do not attract Scottie Scheffler or Xander Schauffele, it would be a boost to have Bryan involved. The YouTube channel he shares with his brother George is one of the most popular channels in the space.

Fans were annoyed when the television coverage barely showed Bryan at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship as he tied the course record with a 61. At a time when the PGA Tour can struggle to attract viewers, it was baffling that they only showed a handful of Bryan’s shots across the day.

Obviously, Bryan being in the field for the Myrtle Beach Classic, for example, is not going to change the game. But should he get himself into contention, there are certainly going to be a lot more people engaged with the event than there would have been had he not been there.
