With the opening tournament of the PGA Tour season for 2025 due to get underway next week, there’s uncertainty around whether top ten player Viktor Hovland will be playing.

Hovland has suffered a freak toe injury at home after confirming on his social media account that a battle with a bedframe has left him with a broken bone in his toe.

However, while Scottie Scheffler is out of The Sentry, there’s been less certainty over Hovland’s participation.

Given the nature of the injury, there’s an expectation among some golf fans that he might be able to battle through the pain barrier and tough it out.

And speaking about the injury for the first time to Norwegian media, it looks like Hovland is planning on at least giving things a go.

Viktor Hovland shares injury update ahead of The Sentry

According to an article by Espen Blaker for Eurosport Norway, Hovland is looking at giving himself a chance of teeing it up in Hawaii.

Quoting Hovland, the report states that the Norwegian is hoping that ‘tape and painkillers’ can get him through the week and allow him to play on.

Quite whether Hovland runs the risk and decides to go with playing through the pain barrier, will become clearer in the coming days.

Hovland injury among the strangest in golf history

It’s not exactly clear what Hovland has done here but he’s clearly been in a bit of a fight with some furniture and come out on the wrong side.

Hovland’s injury is one of many bizarre injuries over the years for golfers.

We listed five of the most bizarre injuries after hearing of Hovland and Scheffler’s woes and it looks like the Norwegian will find himself mentioned on these lists in the future.

Right now, only Hovland himself will know how bad the pain is and if it can stop him in his tracks.
