Viktor Hovland has explained what his relationship with Joseph Mayo is like now after reuniting with his former coach last month.
The Norwegian is the defending champion at this week’s Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village and is looking to build on his return to form at the PGA Championship.
Hovland endured a tough start to 2024 after undergoing multiple swing changes and coaches after his FedEx Cup victory at East Lake.
Ultimately, the process has gone full circle for the 26-year-old, who is now back with Mayo after returning to his former coach last month in Louisville.

The Memorial is an important event for the Norwegian for multiple reasons. Firstly, he’s the defending champion. There’s an expectation for him to put up a good fight when attempting to retain his 2023 title.
Secondly, Hovland needs to let the golfing world know that his outing at Valhalla wasn’t a flash in the pan.
We saw the 2023 FedEx Cup champion back to his best in Louisville; there’s now an expectation for his performance levels to be maintained.
If he can finish in the top ten this week, there’s plenty for the Norwegian to be excited about heading into what is a busy and crucial part of the season.
