Anthony Kim’s 64 at the Saudi International was his best since he returned to professional golf in 2024.

So far, it hasn’t been the fairytale comeback story for Anthony Kim, after he was relegated from LIV Golf after two seasons. He failed to score a single point during his time there, but Kim appears to be having a resurgence on the Asian Tour.

Kim played well at the Hong Kong Open, posting his best 36-hole score since his professional return, and his second-round 64 in Saudi Arabia could be a sign that we should get used to seeing him at the top of leaderboards moving forward.

With one round to go, he’s four shots off the lead, which led to a veteran PGA Tour caddie sending a message to Kim’s doubters, who said he had nothing left in the tank.

Kip Henley’s message to Anthony Kim’s doubters

After a dismal couple of seasons on LIV, many thought that Kim’s days of competing for victories in professional golf were over.

According to Kip Henley, who has caddied for Vijay Singh, Brian Gay, and Austin Cook on his way to 11 PGA Tour victories, he saw this coming from miles away.

Henley posted to X, “Who couldn’t see this coming from 5 miles down the road!! All you negative turds that said he was done should have the gumption to come on here and say, “I was wrong!”

It seems like the golfing world is rooting for the 40-year-old, as Phil Mickelson said it was great to see Kim playing well

In fairness to Kim’s doubters, it did seem like it was all over for the three-time PGA Tour winner after being relegated from LIV. He hasn’t shown many signs of life since returning to the professional scene.

But it’s nice to see that he can still go contend for wins and post low scores when he’s locked in and on his game.

International Series could be Anthony Kim’s ticket back to LIV Golf

Kim’s performances on the Asian Tour in recent weeks aren’t just a good story of his recent resurgence. They’re important, because they represent Kim’s best chance at getting back onto the LIV Golf tour.

The Saudi International is a part of The International Series, and whoever finishes the season on top of the money list earns a LIV Golf card.

Which LIV golfer do you most want to see return to the PGA Tour?

That won’t be Kim in 2025, but he’s showing enough form to give him some hope of battling back onto LIV in 2026.

As with any golfer, consistency is key to those hopes. It’s no good for Kim to be in contention in the odd week. But this is a confidence sport, and his recent performances must be doing wonders for Kim’s mentality moving forward.
