The PGA of America Ryder Cup Committee has made a shock decision to appoint Keegan Bradley as their next Ryder Cup captain.

The 38-year-old six-time PGA Tour winner has never served as part of the backroom team for the prestigious event.

Bradley also missed out on a captain’s pick from Zach Johnson for the 2023 Ryder Cup, which Team Europe won 16.5-11.5.

But he is the man tasked with stealing the trophy back from Luke Donald and Co. at Bethpage Black next year.

The New York course plays host to the event at the end of September 2025, with US golf fans baffled at the decision to appoint Bradley as captain.

USA fans want Michael Jordan as a Ryder Cup vice-captain

But the shocks may not end there, with basketball legend Michael Jordan named as a potential vice-captain on SiriusXM.

Many Team USA fans have now reacted positively to that proposal, with one person writing on X: ‘They don’t need vice-captains to help the players fundamentally – they need them to help them mentally… Jordan and his championship insight are invaluable.’

A second user wrote: ‘Yes. Go for it. It’s MJ. As competitive as there is. They need that ingredient. Is that not a good thing?’

A third said: ‘I’d love it as a fan. If we had MJ with Tiger that would have been killer.’

A fourth commented: ‘Literally said this earlier… no one knows more about the competitive spirit and drive to win better than MJ. Plus we know he has game, ask Xander.’

Other users said: ‘Yes. Get winners on the team,’ and ‘Absolutely, players would love it.’

Another comment read: ‘Hell yes!!! Great idea! That man is the greatest “Winner” of all time, period.’

What is Michael Jordan’s history at the Ryder Cup?

Jordan’s basketball heroics speak for themselves, but the icon is also an avid golfer, and certainly has history at the Ryder Cup.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the Chicago Bulls legend was tasked with motivating Team USA at the 2018 edition at Le Golf Nacional.

And at Medinah in 2012, Jordan did his utmost to distract the likes of Ian Poulter, although the latter used that to his advantage to help Team Europe pull off a stunning victory, as reported by the Mirror.

The former basketball superstar is certainly well-respected in golf, with Pablo Larrazabal naming Jordan in his dream four-ball alongside Tiger Woods and Seve Ballesteros.
