Oakmont has claimed many a victim during the first two days of the US Open.

Before the US Open began, we were hearing horror stories about the severity of the setup at Oakmont, and the golf course has not disappointed.

Oakmont has already claimed numerous high-profile victims including the likes of Justin Thomas, 2019 Open champion Shane Lowry, 2013 US Open champion Justin Rose and LIV Golf star Dustin Johnson.

Si Woo Kim said Oakmont was ‘too hard’ for him, after shooting a 68 on day one.

That just goes to show what kind of golf course it is, and it will only get harder as the week goes on.

However, one player in particular can lay claim to having the most nightmarish tournament at Oakmont in recent history.

George Duangmanee crashes out of the US Open after second round 89

Not many will have heard of George Duangmanee.

He is now much more famous than he was this morning, but for all the wrong reasons unfortunately.

Poor old Duangmanee endured a torrid day at Oakmont on Friday.

His first round 86 was bad enough, but day two was much, much worse.

Duangmanee carded a 19-over par 89 – a round that consisted of just five pars, eight bogeys, four double bogeys and a triple bogey.

That really is the stuff that nightmares are made of.

The 23-year-old will do well to forget about his experience at Oakmont as quickly as possible.

That will obviously be easier said than done though.

George Duangmanee has a 100% cuts made record on the PGA Tour

Duangmanee has only played one PGA Tour event during his fledgling career.

And he made the cut!

The 23-year-old played in the ONE flight Myrtle Beach Classic back in May, and shot opening rounds of 68 and 71, but closed with a pair of 75s over the weekend to finish up in a tie for 67th.

In order to make the cut at any PGA Tour event, you need to be a seriously good player.

So Duangmanee clearly has something about him, but you wouldn’t know it after he finished 35-over par at the US Open.
