The US Open. A sheer golfing spectacle in the calendar is finally upon us. Players this year will be embarking onto the legendary Pinehurst Resort, home of Pinehurst No.2 in the hopes of scooping up this years title.
This is the first time the competition will be held at Pinehurst for 25 years, which is also the time Payne Stewart won the award, right before his tragic incident, which will be surely commemorated over the course of the next few days,

Key storylines to follow on day one of the US Open 2024
Wyndham Clark returns to defend the title…
After a remarkable showing in last year’s competition, Wyndham Clark returns to defend the title of US Open champion. This comes after last year’s one-shot victory over Rory McIlroy.
Robert Rock is back!
Robert Rock stopped playing competitively entirely after the DP World Tour in 2022, but is now back on the green! Rock makes his first Major start since the 2019 Open Championship after progressing through Final Qualifying. It will be interesting to see how he performs on the green on the big stage after a while out.
Scottie Scheffler – the clear favourite
Scottie Scheffler is the overwhelming favourite coming off the back of his victory at the Memorial Tournament. He has five wines, including the infamous masters, in his last eight PGA Tour starts.
Remembering Payne Stewart
And, of course, a lot of the weekend will be commemorating the US Open win of Payne Stewart, who tragically passed just four months after this monumental victory in a plane crash.
