Patrick Reed missed out on the US Ryder Cup team at Bethpage Black this year.

Reed won a LIV Golf event in Dallas this year, and despite the apparent difficulties he causes in the team room, many believe he would have been an asset for the US Ryder Cup team.

Keegan Bradley was warned not to pick Reed for the Ryder Cup by Golf Channel analyst Eamon Lynch.

So it was no surprise when Bradley chose to ignore the 35-year-old major winner when making his captain’s picks.

Back in July, Reed backed Bryson DeChambeau and other LIV golfers for the Ryder Cup, but it was only the 32-year-old from Dallas who made the team in the end.

Now the 2018 Masters champion has broken his silence on his Ryder Cup omission.

Reed has a fantastic Ryder Cup record.

So it’s unsurprising that he feels as though he’d have made a big difference for the American team on Long Island.

When speaking to AFP after firing a second round 66 at the International Series Philippines, Reed opened up on his feelings about missing out at Bethpage Black last month.

He explained: It definitely hurts and I definitely feel like I could have been a huge asset to the team, especially at a place I won before.

That was his decision, but I feel like he tried to put out the best team he could.

Reed was then asked if he believes America would have won the Ryder Cup had he been part of the team.

Through the first two days I don’t really care what team he threw out there, I don’t think we’d be able to hang with the way the Euros played, said Reed.

From top to bottom on Friday and Saturday it was just unreal.

It’s fair to say that Reed would have been far more useful for the United States than someone like the woefully out-of-form Collin Morikawa was.

Patrick Reed reacts to the media’s false portrayal of him as a villain

Reed has insisted that he gets a bad rap from the media.

My kids have been bullied at school so that’s where it’s uncalled for, The American explained.

They say a lot of stuff, it’s all false.

When they all of a sudden look at your children and say stuff about them, it’s like you don’t even know my children and why would you even bring kids into it?

It’s not fun having to deal with some of the stuff that we deal with. The great thing is I have an amazing support team at home and an amazing family.

Reed then strongly denied claims that he is simply not a nice person.

He said: The kind of person I am on and off the golf course hasn’t been portrayed very well in the media throughout my career, but it’s almost impossible to control others.

All you can do is control yourself, so I feel like I’m doing everything the right way, living the right way.

Everyone I play pro-ams with and everybody I meet, they’re all like: Man, you’re nothing like what the media portrays you as.

So as long as that just continues happening, at some point it will turn around.
