Tyrrell Hatton has explained why his week at LIV Golf Singapore felt “weird” despite finishing tied for fifth at Sentosa Golf Club.

Brooks Koepka took the title on the Southernmost Point of Continental Asia on 15-under-par, finishing two shots ahead of Aussie Cameron Smith.

Legion XIII’s Hatton endured an eventful week, holing out two shots during his three rounds.

The Englishman carded consecutive 68s on Friday and Saturday before landing a five-under 66 on Sunday to play himself into contention.

His tied-fifth finish is his sixth top-15 in seven starts after joining the Saudi-backed venture in January.

Hatton was left to rue several missed putts on Sunday, with three efforts squandered from inside 10 feet early on into his round.

Speaking after Sunday’s play, Hatton admitted it was a “weird” week for him despite playing well tee-to-green.

He explained [LIV Golf]: “Bit of a weird week. Definitely tee to green, I played good enough to give myself a chance. But I really struggled holing putts out here. Normally, I’m all right on the greens, but this week, putts just didn’t want to go in.”

Tyrrell Hatton must be delighted with how he’s started his LIV Golf career

Hatton, as we all know, is an interesting character. He’s never one to get too excited about his game, regardless of how well he’s playing.

Yet, even the 32-year-old must be relatively pleased with how he has faired since turning his back on the PGA Tour.

LIV is stacked with some of the world’s best players, and Hatton is regularly finishing in the top 15.

If he can improve his work on the greens and capitalise on opportunities, then there’s every chance of him landing his first title in the not-too-distant future.

Hatton’s putting average of 1.54 is third best in the LIV Golf 2024 season. With his tee-to-green play impressing at Sentosa, things are shaping up nicely heading into a busy part of the year.

The Englishman is one of nine LIV stars featuring in the PGA Championship at Valhalla and shouldn’t be written off in Louisville.
