Whatever Scottie Scheffler goes on to achieve in the game of golf, many are going to look back upon 2024 as the year in which the world number one elevated himself to superstar status.
Certainly, if Scottie Scheffler replicates what he achieved in 2024 in another couple of seasons during his career, the 28-year-old will have to be put alongside the greatest to have ever played the game. Scheffler won eight times worldwide, including securing his second major title at The Masters.
But the fact that the other seven wins did not come in events with weakened fields also feels significant. Scheffler became the first player to retain The Players Championship title, while he also won at Bay Hill, The Memorial, and The Tour Championship. He also clinched an Olympic gold medal at Le Golf National.
Scheffler won from all kinds of positions on Sunday. Jon Rahm had a four shot lead at one stage on the back nine in Paris. Meanwhile, he was simply dominant at Augusta National. So the only question which remains over Scheffler is whether he can sustain anything like this form in the years to come.
Scottie Scheffler backed for multiple wins in 2025
Speaking on Fairways of Life with Matt Adams, Tripp Isenhour suggested that he is fairly confident that 2025 is going to be another huge year for Scheffler.

“Scottie Scheffler is going to have a Tiger-like run, but he’s got such a great support system off the golf course, he has golf really in perspective. I see another three to six win season out of him, I really do, and I see a major,” he said.
“There’s nothing in his game since he switched to that mallet putter; that would be the only thing, and really when you look at it statistically, which is my job, it was really from one area: five to 10 feet. When he putted better than the field average from five to 10 feet, he won. When he didn’t, he finished second or third. So that’s the fine line that you have with Scottie Scheffler.”

Scheffler built the kind of resume in 2024 that most players would be delighted with over an entire career. He won a second major title, an Olympic gold medal, The Players, The Tour Championship and four signature events.
As long as he remains motivated, it is hard to see anyone taking that world number one spot off of him in the next few years.
It says everything that that would almost be an underwhelming return because of how good he has been this year.
