Tommy Fleetwood’s time must be coming soon, after he gave himself yet another great chance to win on the PGA Tour by sharing the lead at the Tour Championship heading into the final round.

Fleetwood has never stopped believing after a succession of gut-wrenching near misses on the PGA Tour and how sweet it would be if his first ever victory stateside came at the Tour Championship.

US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley praised Tommy Fleetwood during the Tour Championship for his mental strength.

Bradley is spot on. It cannot be easy for the Englishman to keep putting himself in position to win after some of the defeats he’s endured on the PGA Tour over the past few seasons.

Many fancy Fleetwood to break his PGA Tour duck at the Tour Championship.

His golf is certainly in great shape and if he continues doing what he has been doing during the first three rounds at East Lake, he will have every chance of winning.

However, the seven-time DP World Tour winner has been told that there is one danger man who could ruin his party in Atlanta.

Tommy Fleetwood told who the ‘danger man’ is on the final day at the Tour Championship

Paul McGinley has warned Fleetwood about Patrick Cantlay ahead of the final day’s play at East Lake on Sunday.

McGinley was commentating for Sky Sports in the UK during round three of the Tour Championship on Saturday.

The Irishman was asked whether he fancies Fleetwood’s chances and which player represents the biggest threat to the Englishman’s hopes of winning.

McGinley said: This is the danger man in my opinion (Cantlay). I said at the start of the show and I still think so. I think he is coming into form and he has an agenda, not just in terms of winning the tournament but also making an impression on Keegan Bradley and getting on the team.

While Cantlay has played very well this week, it would be silly not to mention the fact that he hasn’t won on the PGA Tour for three years now, or any other tour for that matter.

He will be feeling the pressure at East Lake on Sunday just as much as Fleetwood will be, with his place on the Ryder Cup team still not guaranteed.

A win would secure his place at Bethpage, and that in itself will add even more pressure to Cantlay.

Personally, I think Scottie Scheffler is the danger man. He has played poorly by his standards over the past two days, but still managed to shoot rounds of 69 and 66.

The world number one will almost certainly not play that poorly for three days in a row and I fully expect him to shoot 64 or better during his final round in Atlanta.

Scottie Scheffler claim made as Tommy Fleetwood looks to win the Tour Championship

McGinley is quite clearly a very big fan of Fleetwood, as hundreds of thousands of golf fans are.

The Ryder Cup captain from 2014 offered an explanation as to why he thinks Fleetwood is so popular.

He said: If you are a neutral watching and you are watching the tantrums of Scottie and then you are watching that behaviour from Tommy, that’s why so many people want Tommy to get over the line.

That’s a bit harsh on Scheffler from McGinley. The world number one is criticised for not caring enough and when his emotions spill over. You can’t have it both ways.

However, McGinley is spot on in one aspect and that is that there will not be too many golf fans who don’t actually want to see Fleetwood win the Tour Championship.

The Englishman is more than deserving of a victory on the PGA Tour and how fitting it would be if he broke his duck at the event with the biggest purse in golf.
