Tommy Fleetwood is yet to win a PGA Tour event but after playing brilliantly in round one of the FedEx St Jude Championship, the Englishman is firmly in the mix.
Fleetwood has failed to get the job done this season and came agonisingly close to ending his duck when he threw away victory to Keegan Bradley at the Travelers.
Now though, Fleetwood is seven-under for his opening round at the TPC Southwind and just a shot back of overnight leader, Akshay Bhatia.
The big question for Fleetwood now is if he can maintain consistency through the next round and then capitalise at the weekend.
Of all the players on TOUR who haven’t won, it feels like seeing Fleetwood get over the line would be a great sight for many.
Indeed, it seems Fleetwood has found form at just the right time.

Tommy Fleetwood says why the pro-am has helped him play well at the FedEx St Jude Championship
Winning a big event like the FedEx St Jude would just about sum things up for Tommy Fleetwood.
Having come so close so many times, getting his first win in such a big event would certainly be a rewarding feeling for him.
In fact, it seems Fleetwood is trending nicely as he admitted that he’s even been playing well in the pro-ams.
“Well, golf is a funny game. My game has felt in good shape throughout the practice days, and I played great in the pro-am yesterday, but that means nothing. Sometimes you prefer to play awful in the pro-am and get that out of the way,” Fleetwood admitted.
“I like the course, and I like the setup of a lot of the tee shots, and I think if I can keep my swing in a similar place, you’re going to go through a tough stretch at some point with 72 holes ahead of us, but my game has felt in a good place, and if I can just try and keep it there and stay present and stay focused then we’ll see what we can do.”
Tommy Fleetwood picks his best shot from round one of the FedEx St Jude
Scoring seven-under par means you’re going to have hit some fine golf shots and that’s just what Fleetwood did in round one.
His accuracy off the tee was great but his approach play was also top notch, while the putter also found a bit of form finally.
A four-birdie stretch set the Englishman well on his way and speaking to the press afterwards, he picked his best shot from that streak.
“Best shot among the four birdies, probably the drive on 18. Actually, to be fair, what was a golf shot, the drive on 17 and then the second shot was probably the best too. 18 you’ve obviously still got work to do,” Fleetwood continued.
“You’re like, right, I’ve had a great round of golf, and I think when you’re standing on 18, it’s a great finishing hole. You’ve still got to stand up and hit a golf shot on the last. Felt really good on the tee, but to hit a golf shot like that, it was literally exactly where I was aiming, so obviously that one.”

In terms of his overall game, Fleetwood admitted his patience helped him massively.
“I stayed patient through the first seven holes, I would say, because I played really good early on,” he continued on. “
Made a bogey on 5, hit a poor iron shot there actually. It was like the worst shot of the day. Felt like I hadn’t made the most of any of the chances that I had given myself, and I think just being patient through that stretch and then eventually got something going. Holed a nice one on 8 and then holed a bunker shot on 9.
“I think that was really important, and from there things started to flow a bit more. It went my way. But those first seven holes were probably key.”
