We are halfway through the Tour Championship and once again, Tommy Fleetwood has the chance to get that first ever PGA Tour win.
Alongside Russell Henley at the summit, Fleetwood leads Cameron Young by two shots going into round three, while Robert MacIntyre and Patrick Cantlay are a further shot back.
Fleetwood has come so close in recent times to getting his first win that it seems to be a case of when and not if, as long as he can get over his mental block.
A second round 63 more than did enough to give him the belief he can do it but with scoring low across the board, there could well be some seriously low rounds out there on Saturday.
Indeed, speaking of that low scoring, Fleetwood himself admitted that East Lake is very much helping the players.

Tommy Fleetwood gives verdict on East Lake
Speaking to the press after another fine round of golf, Fleetwood was in high spirits as he looked ahead to the weekend.
However, when pressed on the actual course set up, Fleetwood admitted that the course, in addition to preferred lies being in play, make things a touch easier.
“Well, I think the scoring is amazing. Everybody is under par, right, and, I don’t know, I might be doing your kind of research there. But it’s playing soft, but I still just think it’s, if you hit it well off the tee, especially the way it’s playing now where we’re playing preferred lies, you’re going to have a lot of chances for birdie because you’ve got a lot of approach shots from not that far. So there is that,” Fleetwood admitted
“But there’s enough demanding shots. I think if you start losing it a little bit off the tee and you’re in the rough, it obviously becomes a lot more difficult to score. I think guys have played very well around the golf course. I think the scoring has been probably a little bit of a surprise just with how the practice rounds were playing, but I think, yeah, there’s certain holes – the first is an incredibly tough start.
“You have a few holes like that, but then there are scorable holes. So if you are driving it well off the tee you’re going to have some wedges in your hand, short irons in, you’re going to have a chance to score.”
Going into more detail about the green, Fleetwood explained why the greens and conditions are perfect.
“I think it was playing a lot firmer and I do think the soft conditions are making the fairways that bit more forgiving, knowing that obviously we can clean the ball in the fairway so you’ve got a nice dry, clean ball. I do think that probably makes a huge difference,” he continued.
“But I also just think guys are very, very good at golf. I don’t really include myself in that, to be honest. I just like playing and keeping going. It’s probably surprising that the scoring has been as low. But yeah, when you add it all together, softness, playing preferred lies, receptive greens, I think it obviously all adds up. And the greens are perfect as well. They’re great greens to hole putts on.”
Robert MacIntyre shares his thoughts on the East Lake greens
Of course, one player to suffer the same fate as Fleetwood in recent weeks is Robert MacIntyre.
He was chased down by Scottie Scheffler last week despite leading by four but the Scot is once again in the mix.
Now, just as Fleetwood did, MacIntyre has given his thoughts on the greens at East Lake.
“Yeah, I don’t know because the greens are still firm. The greens aren’t – you miss a fairway and you pitch it on the green – it is firm. I mean, it’s still a good test,” MacIntyre said.
“13-under par leading I think is going to be leading by the end of the day. Still decent. The fairways have become a little bit wider because they’re softer. But if you miss them, into the greens is difficult. Obviously we hope for it to firm up a little bit, but I don’t want the greens getting too firm because then it becomes carnage for me as well.”
With so many players capable of putting big rounds together and the conditions favourable, we could be in for some impressive scores on Saturday, setting us up for a huge Sunday.
