Keegan Bradley has admitted that he’s delighted Scottie Scheffler is American!

Bradley will have Scheffler on his team at the Ryder Cup in September, and the 29-year-old’s form over the past two seasons means he will head to Bethpage Black as the United States’ talisman.

Before the Tour Championship began, the US Ryder Cup team held a bonding dinner.

Bradley told Todd Lewis that Scheffler is making sure that he is ‘just one of the guys’, rather than showing any arrogance due to his superstardom.

And Scheffler recently praised Bradley’s work as Ryder Cup captain, suggesting that it’s been great to have him so close and involved with day-to-day life on the PGA Tour.

So the two men clearly have huge respect for one another.

It’s hard not to be impressed by Scheffler, isn’t it?

But what part of his game has stood out the most to Bradley when they have played alongside one another?

Bradley sat down to speak with Smylie Kaufman after the Ryder Cup captain posted a fine round of 64 on day two of the Tour Championship.

He was asked what he thinks of Scheffler as a golfer.

Bradley replied: I am so glad he’s American! One of the best parts of his game is his chipping. Most people look at him and talk about his ball striking but for me when I play with him I am most impressed by how great he chips the ball.

Scheffler’s short game is undoubtedly one of the very best in the business. The problem is, we don’t get to see him utilise it much due to the quality of his ball striking!

What Mike Cromie said surprised him about Scottie Scheffler at the BMW Championship

In response to Bradley’s comments on Scheffler, Kaufman revealed something that the world number one’s stand-in caddie Mike Cromie told him last week.

He said: Michael Cromie, who was on the bag last week for Scottie Scheffler, told me that was the one thing that surprised him the most, it was how good his short game is and how underrated it is.

In fairness, I don’t feel like Scheffler’s short game is underrated. It’s common knowledge that he has an incredible touch around the greens.

It’s also worth noting that he is ranked second in strokes gained scrambling and 18th in strokes gained around the greens.

Scheffler is a real grinder, and when things aren’t going his way, albeit a rare occurrence, he relies on his exceptional short game to bail him out of trouble.

There aren’t many better in the game with any form of wedge in their hands than the world number one.
