Robert MacIntyre has added to his success at the Ryder Cup by winning the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on home soil.

Hosted by three different courses in Scotland, the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship trophy was lifted by MacIntyre after he carded three rounds of 66.

The DP World Tour event was cut short due to Storm Amy, with MacIntyre emerging victorious exactly one week after winning the Ryder Cup.

He was part of Luke Donald’s victorious Team Europe at Bethpage Black, where the visitors beat the USA 15-13.

MacIntyre loved winning the Ryder Cup in New York, but he quickly moved on to the Alfred Dunhill, alongside a handful of his European teammates.

Tommy Fleetwood and Tyrrell Hatton also took on the event, with the Team Europe duo both delighted for MacIntyre after his win in Scotland.

Fleetwood wrote on Instagram: “Congrats to Scotland’s finest Robert MacIntyre on a legendary win after your early night last Sunday night! Another amazing week in St Andrews.”

And Hatton posted on X: “Fun week at the Alfred Dunhill with dad in tough conditions, second place finish for me. Congratulations Robert MacIntyre on the win, doing Scotland proud.”

MacIntyre is indeed doing Scotland proud, but it’s not the first time he’s won on home soil, having triumphed at last year’s Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club.

And he’s followed in the footsteps of a legend in that regard, with MacIntyre now the second Scot to win the Alfred Dunhill and the Scottish Open after Colin Montgomerie.

He’s also the first Scottish winner of the former since Montgomerie in 2005, and the fourth Scot to lift the trophy alongside Stephen Gallacher and Paul Lawrie.

Hatton also had a tournament to remember as he finished as runner-up, four shots behind MacIntyre on 14-under, while Fleetwood finished T21st with another Ryder Cup teammate, Matt Fitzpatrick.
