Tom Kim is almost in danger of becoming one of golf’s forgotten young talents after a strange 2025 season took its toll on him.

Despite winning three times on the PGA Tour already at just 23, Kim has failed to build on his promising start and hasn’t won since he captured a second Shriners Children’s Open title back in 2023.

His 2025 has been dismal as well, with a best finish of T7 coming all the way back at Pebble Beach in February.

Kim’s major form has also suffered – he hasn’t finished inside the top 30 in one in all of 2025 – and overall, it feels like we’ve been watching a young player struggling with elements of his game.

However, after an excellent round of six-under at the Sanderson Farms put him T5 through two days, Kim has now admitted what he’s realized about his game that he’s been working on.

Tom Kim shares exactly what he’s been working after a poor 2025

Like any golfer, Tom Kim is going through a bit of a transitional phase, albeit at 23 it has come early.

Right now, the focus needs to be on regaining confidence and form and when 2026 rolls around, being ready to go again and compete.

Indeed, speaking to the media after round two of the Sanderson Farms, Kim admitted he’s very much been working on the mental side of his game.

“Yeah, like I haven’t…it’s not like I saw a therapist or something. That’s more of just kind of…of an after the season got done, just really sitting with myself and reflecting on what mistakes I’ve made, what could I have done,” Kim admitted.

“The start of the season I didn’t play that bad. I was 27th in FedEx; finished 7th at Pebble; I was in the final two groups at Waste. After that that was when I started playing bad. But The Players, I was plus ten strokes gained approach but I didn’t have a good round.

“You think about one bad shot, and then…So like I said, it’s just more of realizing what I did wrong and being able to realize the good things I’ve done and putting those pieces together and taking it step by step of, ‘okay, what do I need to do to get back to how I can play good golf again’.”

Tom Kim’s PGA Tour career so far

At just 23, Tom Kim has won more than a lot of players can ever dream of and if he finished playing golf right now, nobody can take away his trio of wins.

The problem with Kim is that he is so talented that it feels like we’re missing out on seeing someone who could truly challenge the elite if he gets it right.

In terms of his career, it’s been a success. Yes, 2025 has not been what he hoped for but Kim knows he has time on his side and plenty to learn from and build on.
