Tom Kim has been and is one of golf’s very brightest young stars but right now, things look at risk of tumbling in a big and bad way for the Korean.
Kim has already won three times on the PGA Tour and in the Presidents Cup in 2024, was very much a key and enigmatic part of the International team.
After winning The Wyndham Championship in 2022 and then bagging successive Shriners Open titles in 22 and 23, many expected Kim to power on.
Likewise, 2023 looked like being his springboard as along with that win at the Shriners, he finished T2 at The Open and T8 in the US Open, with a very respectable T16 at Augusta underlining his quality.
However, two years on from that last win, things are now looking very different for Kim and it has to be a worry.

Tom Kim’s issues clear as he withdraws from the Wyndham Championship
In reality, Tom Kim has a huge amount of time on his hands to get things right. At just 23, he is far from being ‘done’ and is simply having a bit of a blip.
However, after pulling out of the Wyndham Championship ahead of the final two rounds, there is a more worrying concern for him.
For the first time since he became a PGA Tour winner, Kim now finds himself missing out on the season-ending FedEx Cup playoffs.
As shared on social media, Kim has dropped out of the top 70 and will not compete in the 2025 edition.
Right now, Kim is probably keen to get away from golf for a bit and take a bit of time to regroup.
Certainly, as far as his 2025 has gone, it’s been one to forget.
Tom Kim’s nightmare 2025 PGA Tour season
A player of Tom Kim’s quality should be doing a lot better than he has done in 2025. It’s that simple.
Overall, it has been a miserable year for him where he’s appeared to be fighting with different swing thoughts and other issues.
Just a single top ten finish all season just about sum things up for Kim, while he’s missed eight from 22 cuts.
| Events played | 22 |
| Cuts made | 14 |
| Top 10s | 1 |
| Top 25s | 2 |
| Money earned | $1,329,009 |
With Kim’s 2025 effectively now done, it is crucial he spends his off-season putting things right.
A failure to do so will once again impact him and as time ticks on, the years will drift away before he becomes one of golf’s forgotten potential superstars.
