International Presidents Cup star Tom Kim is back in action at this weekend’s Shriners Children’s Open.
The event at TPC Summerlin is Kim’s first of two back-to-back outings after the South Korean confirmed he would be playing on the DP World Tour next week.
Kim is also looking to make PGA Tour history at the Shriners by becoming the first player to win an event in three successive seasons.
Kim wants to attack TPC Summerlin and has been grouped alongside the PGA Tour’s newest winner, Matt McCarty, during the first two rounds. And the 22-year-old shared his thoughts on McCarty during his pre-tournament press conference.

Kim revealed that he’s never played with McCarty before and that he’s even looking to learn a few things from the 26-year-old who won last week’s Black Desert Championship in Utah.
The South Korean was asked: “You’re playing with Kevin Yu and Matt McCarty, the last two winners on tour. What do you look forward to about that? Have you met Matt before?”
Kim replied: “No, I haven’t. Obviously, I heard that he had an unbelievable year. Backed it up with a win last week. Congratulations to him.
“It’s going to be good. I think those guys obviously came back-to-back weeks winning, and I haven’t won since here last year, so I’m going to be able to see some good golf and maybe pick up a few things.”

Kim, unsurprisingly, is the overwhelming favourite to make it three Shriners Children’s Open wins this weekend.
The Presidents Cup star has enjoyed himself at the FedEx Cup fall event, which is typically a low-scoring affair.
The average score of the last three winners is 23 under, so another birdie-fest could well be in store in Las Vegas this time around.
A victory this week would be an excellent way for Kim to put 2024 behind him. The PGA Tour youngster has failed to compete regularly and couldn’t bounce back from his playoff defeat to Scottie Scheffler at the Travelers Championship.
A third win at TPC Summerlin would no doubt turn what has been a sub-par season into a somewhat good one.
