Keegan Bradley will almost certainly have a playing role at the Ryder Cup in September.
The thing is, it seems like Bradley has no plans to relinquish his Ryder Cup captaincy duties either.
There are six potential replacements for Bradley as Ryder Cup captain, including the likes of Brandt Snedeker, Kevin Kisner and even Tiger Woods.
However, as things stand, all the signs are pointing to the 39-year-old acting as a playing captain at Bethpage Black.
In May, Bradley suggested he was unsure about his Ryder Cup role, but his win at the Travelers Championship has certainly changed all of that.
It’s hard to envisage a scenario whereby he doesn’t play at Bethpage.
So then, the only question that remains is: will he retain his role as captain as well?
Todd Lewis gives verdict on Keegan Bradley’s behaviour as Ryder Cup captain
When speaking on The Golf Channel Live, Todd Lewis opened up on Bradley’s spell as Ryder Cup captain so far.
He said: “This was such a surprise I wasn’t sure how he would handle it. Keegan Bradley is a world class player. A very smart person. A very loyal person to his friends and his family.
“He is just a quality player and an even better person but he has handled it so well. I mean, so well. There is so many things you have to be as a captain.
“He was the very first of the captains to organise a team dinner at the Truist Championship and he invited Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau.
“He just completely eliminated the borders between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf and said no, if you are a possibility to be on my team I want you all here and we are going to talk about fighting for each other and we are going to talk about what we want in the team room with camaraderie.
“I think he has handled himself beautifully, especially for someone who has never been in a team room as a vice captain at least. So I think he is going to be a positive intangible for the United States, not to mention what he does on the golf course.
“I think he should be on the team, I really do. I think he is a great player and a great asset.“
LIV players who have a chance of making the Ryder Cup team
Bryson DeChambeau is undoubtedly a lock for the team right now.
Aside from him though, there are probably two more who have a realistic chance of being at Bethpage Black in September.
Brooks Koepka is one man who many Americans want on their team. He is a big-time player who performs better when the pressure increases.
Another LIV golfer who may be in with an outside shot of making the team is Patrick Reed.
His match-play prowess simply cannot be ignored, and he would bring real energy and passion to the U.S. team.
And Reed is surely someone who will at least be on Bradley’s radar ahead of the Ryder Cup.
