Tiger Woods is out of the US Open after failing to make the cut and he was a frustrated man during his media interview.

Woods actually played some decent golf but couldn’t make a putt and saw a number of big chances go begging down the stretch.

Despite the cut line being at +5, Woods could not recover the shots needed and he’s left to lick his wounds again in another poor year on the course.

With just one event left in his calendar this year, Woods will be hoping to at least bow out in style for 2024 when he plays in The Open at Royal Troon.

Woods, of course, was desperate to make the cut at Pinehurst No.2. And discussing his second round effort, the 15-time major winner admitted there was one shot that really killed his hopes.

Tiger Woods explains which shot really hurt him during round two of the US Open

Speaking to the media after his exit from the tournament, Woods explained how a missed putt on 15 was the ultimate kick in the teeth for him.

“Yeah, I mean fifteen hurt. That was a good, sweet little seven iron in there and a good putt. High side lip and if I make that it flips the momentum and I’m looking pretty good the last three holes,” Woods said.

“Instead I’m on the wrong side of the cut line and having to do something good on the last three holes which I end up hitting a sweet shot out of the trouble at 16 and then I thought I’d holed my bunker shot on the 17th as well.”

Woods will be desperate to make the cut at Royal Troon

To say it’s not gone well for Tiger Woods in 2024 would be an understatement.

Woods has just not produced the goods in terms of his performances and his body has also struggled.

Frustratingly for Woods, this week he’s looked stronger than ever and it’s a bit sad to see him not make the cut when he’s actually looked the best he has for a while.

Royal Troon gives him one last throw of the dice and he’ll be desperate to make the cut at the very least to show he still has the golf game.

He’s more than capable, having won three Opens in the past.

Hopefully, next month sees Woods find his form and bow out for the year with his head held high.
