Tiger and Charlie Woods came up just short at the PNC Championship but the 15-time major winner could not hide his delight at seeing his son make a hole-in-one.

Charlie Woods struck a stunning 7-iron to make an ace on the fourth hole and over the course of 18 holes, played some remarkable golf to help he and his Dad into contention.

It was not to be, as Bernhard Langer holed his putt on 18 to win out but with Tiger being in contention to win and Charlie having his moment, there was a lot to smile about.

And reacting to Charlie’s hole-in-one, Woods could not hide his delight.

Speaking to the media on the course just after the Langers had won the playoff, Woods reflected on seeing Charlie make the ace and admitted it was simply a joyous moment for him.

“It’s one of the highlights we’ve ever had. On the hole previous he made his first eagle, and now he’s just made his first hole in one. So it’s a magical two hole stretch,” Woods said.

“I’m just so happy for him and the enjoyment we had as a family. It was a lot of fun. It was a back and forth, nobody made a mistake, we had to earn it and that was the joy of it.

Pressed on how his back was holding up after walking all 36 holes, Tiger admitted he’s still not near competitive level.

“Well I’m nowhere near competitive shape. I’m a great scramble partner! We made a great team this week and that was the whole fun of it.”

Tiger looking well ahead of 2025 season

While Woods admits himself he’s not near competitive levels, it was nice to see him get around the course looking relatively pain free.

He played some excellent shots as well, and kept his humour as he told Charlie he would have to pick up the bar tab after his ace.

For now, there is still a long way to go for Woods to be back fully firing.

But for the average golf fan, simply seeing Tiger back out there, making shots, enjoying himself and looking like he could go again, is enough to spark enough interest ahead of 2025.
