Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy finally went head-to-head at TGL, and their highly-anticipated clash certainly didn’t disappoint.
McIlroy loved taking on Woods, whose Jupiter Links side beat Boston Common Golf 4-3 at Florida’s SoFi Center in TGL week four.
Jupiter Links had the second-worst TGL putting record before the match, having lost their opener to Los Angeles Golf Club.
But Woods and his teammates now have a win to their name, with McIlroy losing on his tournament debut.
History was created on the night, with Jupiter Links securing the first TGL overtime win, clinching two points as a result as one point went to Boston.

Tiger Woods takes full responsibility after first-ever TGL shot clock violation
But the history wasn’t limited to the overtime win, with Woods handed the first shot clock violation in TGL history.
With the two sides tied 1-1 on the 10th hole, Woods was handed a one-stroke penalty after taking too long over an eight-foot putt during his singles match with McIlroy.

Asked in a post-match press conference what was going through his mind as he was running out of time, he replied: “Well, normally I slow my heart rate down before I pull the trigger, so dropping my heart rate down sometimes takes a little bit longer than others.
“As I told these guys, it’s on me. I should have called time out as I built in my stance because of the time. But I was dropping my heart rate down like I normally would. It just took too long.”
Jupiter Links recover from Tiger Woods blunder to beat Rory McIlroy’s Boston team
Like his fellow PGA Tour stars, Woods was well aware of the 40-second shot clock, but simply couldn’t get settled in time for his shot.
Much to the relief of the 15-time PGA Tour champion, it ultimately didn’t matter as Jupiter recovered from the subsequent 2-1 deficit to win 4-3.

He is now unlikely to make the same mistake again, particularly given how close the match turned out to be, unlike previous TGL games.
Jupiter were hammered 12-1 by Los Angeles in their opening game in Florida, with The Bay Golf Club smashing New York Golf Club 9-2 on opening night.
But the latest encounter was a much more tense and indeed much more dramatic affair, with both Woods and McIlroy playing key roles in that excitement.
