Tyrrell Hatton’s move over to LIV Golf hasn’t been quite as controversial as Jon Rahm’s but it’s still captured plenty of attention.
Hatton was one of the major stars of the golfing world to move to LIV in what was rumoured to be a deal worth around £50m.
The 32-year-old is regarded as one of the very top players in the world and was a key part of Europe’s Ryder Cup winning team last year.
However, Hatton has admitted he doesn’t know what his Ryder Cup future holds now he’s in LIV.

And speaking to The Telegraph, he admitted he’d sought the advice of two of the top stars of last year’s win in Rome in the form of captain Luke Donald, and talisman Rory McIlroy.
“I spoke to Rory [McIlroy], Luke [Donald] and others, figures who I really respect and whose opinions I wanted to take on board, to see about where things might be going in the game. Of course, they couldn’t give me any assurances, because nobody can, but their opinions were valuable,” Hatton said.
The Englishman is currently competing in Las Vegas after coming out on top in the opening LIV team event of the season last weekend in Mexico.
Tyrrell Hatton will be hoping for changes
Hatton is intending on playing some DP events this year to enable him to still qualify for Ryder Cup selection but what will happen beyond that is anyone’s guess.
Hatton has said he doesn’t want wholesale rule changes simply to accommodate both he and Jon Rahm but deep down, he’ll be hoping the needle moves a bit at the very least.
Both he and Rahm moving to LIV has put Europe’s Ryder Cup selection process under a bit more scrutiny.
Frankly, both are two of the world’s very best players so the idea Europe go to Bethpage without them is hard to imagine.
On the flipside, of course, Hatton has made his bed when signing with LIV and might simply have to lie in it. And given he’s going to be £50m+ richer regardless, the blow of potentially missing out on Ryder Cups will be quickly softened.
