Tiger Woods is expected to reject the chance of being the USA’s Ryder Cup captain in 2025 and it’s now left a three-horse race.
Woods has been locked in talks with the PGA of America for some time now but according to The Telegraph, will not be taking the chance this time around.
The 15-time major winner is fully expected to captain the US at some stage in his career but with so much going off in his golfing world right now, he’s decided the time isn’t right just yet.
And that, apparently, has left the door ajar for one of three American’s to take the job on.
Team USA have three Ryder Cup captains in mind after Tiger Woods rejection
According to that same report from The Telegraph, there are now three main names in the frame.
It comes as the PGA of America is expected to make an announcement on who they’ve gone with by tomorrow.

According to the report here, the three names involved are Stuart Cink, Fred Couples, and Davis Love III.
All three have vast experience in the game and have been part of Ryder Cups before.
Couples has the most experience. The 64-year-old is a popular member out on tour and has played in five Ryder Cups, winning two and drawing one, with two defeats.
However, in terms of pure Ryder Cup experience, that honour falls to Davis Love III. The 60-year-old has won twice as a captain in 2012 and 2016, while he played six events as a player.
As for Stuart Cink, he is the youngest of the three and has played in five Ryder Cups.
Quite who the US will go with, remains to be seen but there are strong cases for all three men here.
Indeed, if it’s not to be Cink, there are suggestions he might well be one of the vice-captains anyway.
