Will Zalatoris is going through a really tough time right now, and his withdrawal from the Cognizant Classic sums up where he’s at right now.
Zalatoris has gone through so many problems with his back over the past few years, and has only made 13 PGA Tour starts since the beginning of the 2025 season.
He won’t get the chance to add to that tally this week at the Cognizant Classic either, after pulling out of the tournament at the last minute.
Do you think long putters should be banned?
Yes or No…
Zalatoris insisted that he would make big improvements on the PGA Tour in 2026 but as things stand, it has been much of the same for the 29-year-old.
When it rains it pours…
Zalatoris was forced to undergo back surgery for the second time in 2025 and he ended up playing only 11 PGA Tour events that year.
The reason why Will Zalatoris withdrew from the Cognizant Classic confirmed
Zalatoris must be wondering if he will ever get a break.
After a T-18 and a missed cut to start off his 2026 season, the man from Dallas, Texas, has now been forced to miss the first leg of the Florida Swing.
According to the official PGA Tour website, Zalatoris withdrew due to an ankle injury:

Will Zalatoris withdrew from the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches Thursday morning just prior to his opening round tee time at PGA National, citing a left ankle injury.
“Zalatoris, one of the biggest names in the field this week at PGA National, was set to make his third start of the season playing on a major medical extension as he attempts to reestablish momentum following significant back surgeries that sidelined him in recent years.
“He did not detail the nature of the ankle injury.“
As frustrating as that must have been for Zalatoris, it’s actually good news that his back wasn’t the reason for his withdrawal.
Undergoing two separate back surgeries before the age of 30 is a big concern.
Will Zalatoris must not rush back from injury
Zalatoris’ fans will be desperate to see him back in action very soon.
Let’s hope the ankle injury that forced Zalatoris to withdraw from the Cognizant Classic isn’t too serious, and he’s back in action before too long.
Are you concerned about Scottie Scheffler right now?
He is really struggling with his first rounds right now…
The key for the 29-year-old will be to ensure that he doesn’t rush back to action too soon.
He has endured way too many injury problems already for someone his age.
Will Zalatoris has talent and ability in abundance, and he should be a multiple major winner by the time he retires.
However, his body is quite simply not playing ball right now. Hopefully that all changes for him moving forward.
