As well as being famed for being Tiger Woods’ golf coach, Hank Haney has an opinion on a lot of things in the golf world and he’s now suggested a ‘solution’ for the PGA Tour and LIV Golf when it comes to the Players Championship.

Suggestions that LIV stars could be at The Players amid talks of a potential deal with the PGA Tour and the PIF have caused plenty of debate and discussion in recent weeks.

As it stands, LIV have their own event in Singapore and there is little in the way of anything concrete to suggest their star players will be at TPC Sawgrass.

Of course, golf fans on the PGA side would no doubt like to see Jon Rahm or Bryson DeChambeau teeing it up in a big tournament like The Players.

And according to Hank Haney, there is an easy enough conclusion if the two tours did want to make it happen.

Hank Haney suggests PGA Tour and LIV Golf player swap

Speaking on the latest episode of the No Filter Network podcast, Haney admitted that there’s an easy solution when it comes to the LIV players, albeit it won’t impact the ratings too much.

“The LIV tour already has an event that weekend in Singapore, so I don’t know how that’s going to happen. Are they going to cancel Singapore so that a few guys who are still eligible can play at The Players Championship?,” Haney said.

“Are they going to throw three or four guys who are the top guys on LIV and throw in some substitutes?

“I guess they could do it. It would be an easy solution. You know, take a few PGA guys who could have signed for a bunch of money and didn’t and throw them into the Singapore tournament and take DeChambeau and Cam Smith, Koepka, whoever else you want to take, put them on the Players Championship and they can all sing ‘Kumbaya’ and everything will be ok again? And the ratings will go up…not much, because people only watch so much golf and they’re only going to watch so much golf without Tiger Woods involved.”

What Hank Haney has said about LIV Golf and TV ratings

It seems we live in a world now that revolves around money and with that, TV ratings are often mentioned when it comes to judging the golfing landscape.

As Haney mentions here, the moving of LIV players back to PGA events won’t have the impact some feel it will.

Indeed, Haney’s opinion on LIV players and TV ratings has remained similar for some time now.

“Boy it is hard to watch. I find it so hard to watch golf nowadays. I know people rip LIV, but if I want to watch golf I at least want to see players hit some shots,” Haney said last month.

“The PGA Tour, the final round at Torrey Pines, the first nine holes took three hours to play. They are playing in threesomes. I don’t think if they got rid of LIV, if they put all the LIV players back on to the PGA Tour if they stopped talking about money, they could do all those things, and I still don’t think their ratings are going to be great.”

Right now, it seems we aren’t getting much in the way of a potential deal and in he main, it might not matter anyway.
