Keegan Bradley is scheduled to name his six Ryder Cup captain’s picks on Wednesday at 11am Eastern Time.

While the European side is extremely settled and almost picks itself, the US Ryder Cup team is anything but.

Bradley faces some incredibly difficult decisions, notably whether or not to select himself for the showdown with Team Europe at Bethpage Black.

On Monday, Bradley revealed that some US Ryder Cup players want him on the team up in New York State next month.

There have been some surprises on the PGA Tour this season, with numerous unheralded players succeeding and certain big names struggling to impress.

However, Bradley himself is not one of the big names to have struggled this season. In fact, Bradley’s Tour Championship display proved he should be on the Ryder Cup team, considering his ability to perform with the amount of pressure on him and the off-course commitments on his plate.

Whether Bradley decides to play or not, there will still be one or two PGA Tour players who will be left really disappointed after the 39-year-old’s announcement on Wednesday.

The shock omission from the US Ryder Cup team has been predicted

Ben Griffin has been a real revelation on the PGA Tour this season, with two wins and 10 top-10 finishes to his name.

It’s also worth noting that he didn’t finish outside of the top-12 during his final four tournaments of the PGA Tour season, including the three playoff events.

However, it is being suggested that Griffin, 29, could face heartbreak on Wednesday morning.

Hoggard responded when asked to name the player who could be the biggest shock omission from Bradley’s team when the 39-year-old names his captain’s picks on Wednesday.

He said: I think it’s going to be Ben Griffin. I don’t particularly agree with it, because I think if you look at what he did in a very small window, keep in mind he virtually did nothing in the first year of qualifying and it is a two year qualifying cycle. He has virtually got all of his points this year.

He has won twice, granted one of those was a team event, which proves he is a really good teammate and he also won at Colonial. He also has two top 10 finishes in the majors.

He has come around as a player and I think he certainly deserves his spot on that team when you start breaking it down.

If you just take one through to 12 he would absolutely be on that team. But when you start looking at the make-up and what Keegan and the rest of the American side are trying to do at Bethpage, I don’t know if he fits in.

Nothing to do with his game, I just think it has to do with how are you going to pair him with? How are you going to set up the pairings for Friday and Saturday? And do you want to put a rookie, when you already have a couple of them, into the mix that is going to be Bethpage.

Then Hoggard’s colleague Ryan Lavner shared his opinion on the situation.

I think Ben Griffin is probably the US player who is probably feeling the most heat at this point, but I think it would be a travesty if he was left off, Lavner explained.

He has done exactly what you want over the course of this season. More than 1000 points earned over Keegan Bradley, with almost all of those points accumulated over the 2025 season. He has been one of the most consistent contenders throughout the Tour season, one of the breakout stars, and he has so much energy, enthusiasm and passion.

I really feel he could be a lightning rod for this American team if he was chosen by Keegan Bradley.

Griffin is in a really strong position after finishing in ninth position on the Ryder Cup points list, and he is more than deserving of a place on the team at Bethpage.

Ben Griffin’s 2025 stats vs Keegan Bradley, Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas

Griffin will have every right to feel aggrieved if he is indeed left off Bradley’s Ryder Cup team.

Here is how his stats stack up against Bradley, Morikawa and Thomas on the PGA Tour in 2025.

If those names were blanked out, there is no way anyone would suggest that the player in the first column should miss out on the Ryder Cup team.

Given the course setup at Bethpage Black, Morikawa should really be the man to miss out, but the general consensus is that he will be on Bradley’s Ryder Cup team.

If Griffin is not named on the team, it will be an absolute travesty and he will be left thinking what more he could have possibly have done.

For what it’s worth, I think there is no doubt that he will be on the team. His form this season has been superb and Bradley would be taking a huge risk by omitting him from the US squad.
