Tiger Woods’ return to professional golf won’t happen at this week’s Congizant Classic at PGA National.
Despite the event taking place in Palm Beach, Florida, the 15-time major winner was not part of the confirmed field. Woods pulled out of the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines after the sad passing of his mother, Kultida.
Woods’ attention is firmly away from on-course matters, and The Arnold Palmer Invitational and Players Championship seem more likely events for the former world number one to compete in.
As the golfing world waits for news on Tiger’s return, let’s take a look back at one of his best-ever rounds, which took place at PGA National back in 2012.
Tiger Woods’ PGA Tour history at the 2012 Honda Classic

Starting the final round of the Honda Classic (now the Cognizant Classic) at two under, Woods shot a scintillating 62 (eight under), which was his lowest final-round score in PGA Tour history.
Woods eagled the third and 18th to shoot four under on both nines. Unfortunately, the 15-time major winner ended the week with two shots back from Rory McIlroy (12 under). Had Woods started the week better at PGA National, he would no doubt have 83 wins to his name.
McIlroy avoided any serious trouble playing the Bear Trap on Sunday and sealed victory. The Northern Irishman rose to world number one as a result.
Speaking after the 2012 Honda Classic, Woods admitted he enjoyed his final-round charge. “I had a great time out there. … I’ve been hitting it like this, that’s the thing,” Woods said.
“When it got windy out there early today, I thought I hit it well late last year in Oz (Australia), same kind of condition. No reason I can’t do it again today. It all came together.”
Tiger Woods’ 2012 PGA Tour record
Woods ended up winning three times in 2012 and earned over $6m. After finishing runner-up at the Honda Classic, Woods won the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, finishing the week at 13 under.
Woods then failed to compete at The Masters and Players Championship before winning the Memorial Tournament at Jack Nicklaus’ Muirfield Village.
The 15-time major winner then placed inside the top 25 at the US Open before finishing third at the Open Championship. Woods’ third win of 2012 came at the AT&T National.
Despite all that was going on behind the scenes with injury issues and personal problems, Woods’ 2012 record was still mightily impressive.
