The PGA Tour and LIV Golf have opportunity to make incredible event after Rory McIlroy vs Bryson De Chambeau match announced

LIV Golf and the PGA rocked the golfing world after announcing a crossover match involving Bryson DeChambeau, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka and Scottie Scheffler.

Fans are split on the idea of the PGA-LIV crossover, which will see four of golf’s heavyweights go head-to-head in early December.

Of course, the idea has drawn criticism, yet there’s potential for it to grow into something grander.

With the PGA Tour and LIV finally embarking on a joint venture, which TNT Sports will broadcast, could the two entities not go one step further?

If Scheffler and McIlroy are allowed to compete against DeChambeau and Koepka, then why can’t 12 of LIV Golf’s best face off against the PGA Tour’s elite?

The whole event would see 12 LIV Golf and PGA Tour stars face off in a Ryder Cup-style event. It’s a prospect that would undoubtedly attract interest, unlike the current interest either tour is receiving.

If the match ever took place, those representing LIV would undoubtedly receive a fairly hostile reception!

Of course, the suggestion above is a long way from fruition, irrespective of how tantalising it would be.

Yet, the news of the December match is good for the global game. As talks between the PIF and PGA Tour rumble on, fans and commentators are desperate to hear of a resolution.

What’s more, the news of the collaboration between four of golf’s heavyweights could indicate that change is soon afoot.

There’s every chance Jay Monahan and Greg Norman green-lighted this match, which could mean further collaboration is imminent. Hopefully, this is just the start as LIV and the PGA Tour learn to live alongside
