It goes without saying that no-one can rival Tiger Woods when it comes to producing a highlight reel of stunning shots from their career.

Tiger Woods may not have won as many majors as Jack Nicklaus, but few players captured the imagination quite like the 49-year-old. Every golf fan can probably recall a number of moments from Woods’ career where he managed to steal the show with a scarcely-believable shot.

Of course, few will ever forget the chip on the 16th green during the 2005 Masters, or the bunker shot on the final hole of the Canadian Open five years earlier.

His putt to make the playoff at the 2008 US Open has a plaque commemorating it at Torrey Pines, while it is a similar story for the bunker shot Woods hit at the 2019 WGC-Mexico Championship.

Johnson Wagner names one of the most underrated shots from Tiger Woods’ career

But there are so many contenders for the greatest shots of Woods’ career that it is inevitable that some of the biggest moments get forgotten about by many.

The 2019 Masters was a real ‘where were you’ moment in sporting history, with Woods winning his 15th major title, 11 years after he beat Rocco Mediate with essentially a broken leg.

And speaking on The Wagyu Filet Show, Johnson Wagner suggested that one shot Woods hit in the final round at Augusta National sticks out to him as one of the most significant.

“I think a shot that’s underrated for Tiger was in 2019 when he won The Masters, on the 12th hole, because in front of him was Brooks Koepka, Molinari, guys just kept making mistakes, kept making mistakes, and at that point, he was right there tied for the lead,” he said.

“I don’t think he had the lead yet, and he just pins right over the centre of the bunker, right onto the back edge of the green, makes that little two putt. To show that kind of discipline that he had there was just outstanding to me.”

The concerning prediction Wagner made about Tiger Woods

Of course, there is a question mark hanging over what the future holds for Woods. Apart from featuring in TGL, he has not teed it up in a tournament. And there are worries that Woods will not play again this year after rupturing his Achilles.

If there is anyone who is going to leave no stone unturned in the hope of returning, it is Woods. However, Wagner admitted that he is not particularly optimistic that there is another comeback on the cards.

“I hope we see him play more majors, but I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t. His back, his leg, his knee, his Achilles as you mentioned, I think it’s just becoming too much, and I think as we look forward to what we’re going to see, hopefully we’ll see TGL next year, hopefully we’ll see him play Champions Tour and play those majors out there in events that he can ride and events that don’t put on the kind of stress because Tiger’s always said he’s not going to go play in tournaments he can’t win, he’s got to be at the point now where no matter how much prep he has, he can’t legitimately think he has a chance of winning a major championship anymore,” he said.

Woods definitely deserves to go out on his terms – and in style. Unfortunately, it is getting harder and harder to see his body giving him the break he needs for that to happen.
