Keegan Bradley has thrown the cat amongst the pigeons with his win at the Travelers Championship on Sunday.
Last year, Bradley was named as the U.S Ryder Cup captain but his exceptional form since then has given the PGA of America a potentially big problem.
It has already been suggested the players guaranteed to qualify for the Ryder Cup will want Bradley on the team.
And now another claim has been made regarding what the top-ranked American players will NOT allow the 39-year-old to do.
Back in May, Bradley said he was focused on playing well, rather than the prospect of being a playing captain at Bethpage Black.

However, following his win at the Travelers Championship, he will now have to start thinking long and hard about what he is going to do.
The bottom line is that there is probably only one American golfer who’s playing better than Bradley right now, and that’s the world number one Scottie Scheffler.
If we’re all being honest, there is no way that the eight-time PGA Tour winner will not be playing at the Ryder Cup in September.
What American players will not allow Keegan Bradley to do at the Ryder Cup
Anticipation is now really starting to build ahead of the 45th instalment of the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in September.
Brendon de Jonge has been speaking about Bradley and the upcoming Ryder Cup, on SiriusXM Radio.
And he predicted that there is one thing that the top players on the team definitely will not allow the man from Vermont to do.
De Jonge said: “Say Keegan is number nine, or number 10 on that list. You’re going to have your guys who are locked up, Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schaffule, Russell Henley is going to be another one, I believe Bryson DeChambeau will probably be locked up. There is no way that these guys are going to not let Keegan play. I understand that the captaincy is a big deal but still, you’re trying to put your 12 best players out there. A massive part of the captaincy is all the lead-up stuff, the logistics, taking care of the red tape. All of that is going to be done, there are enough vice-captains. Plus, Keegan is still going to be in their ear. If he does play, he’s not going to play every single match. I just don’t see how the biggest players there are going to not let him pick himself, as well as he is playing.”
The golf analyst is spot on here. Why wouldn’t the best players in the world want Bradley on their team for the showdown at Bethpage Black in September?
The 39-year-old is inside the top-10 of both the Official Golf World Rankings and the Data Golf Rankings.
As things stand right now, it would be crazy for Bradley not to be one of the 12 players to take on Europe in three months’ time.
How the U.S. Ryder Cup points list looks right now
Bradley catapulted himself into the top-10 with his win at TPC River Highlands.
And as things stand, it looks like he will almost certainly play at Bethpage.
The top six players in the standings qualify for the team automatically, leaving Bradley with six captain’s picks.
Here is how the standings look right now:
| Rank | Player |
| 1. | Scottie Scheffler (Q) |
| 2. | Xander Schauffele |
| 3. | J.J. Spaun |
| 4. | Russell Henley |
| 5. | Bryson DeChambeau |
| 6. | Justin Thomas |
| 7, | Collin Morikawa |
| 8. | Ben Griffin |
| 9. | Keegan Bradley |
| 10. | Harris English |
| 11. | Maverick McNealy |
| 12. | Brian Harman |
The top six on that list are locks for the team, and it could be argued that actually, the top 10 are actually guaranteed to be at Bethpage later this year.
The one question that remains is: will Bradley act as a playing captain at the Ryder Cup, or will he relinquish one of those roles?
Only time will tell in that regard.
