Which players are in the Masters field?

While a couple of notable names will not be involved, the Masters field once again brings together the very best players in the world at Augusta National.

Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are the standout absentees this year, but there is still no shortage of star power.

World number one Scottie Scheffler leads the way, while Rory McIlroy returns as defending champion after his dramatic victory 12 months ago.

LIV Golf is also strongly represented, with Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm both expected to contend.

Elsewhere, emerging stars such as Tommy Fleetwood and Cameron Young add further depth to a field packed with quality.

The Masters expert picks

The Golfing Gazette experts have made their picks for The Masters this week.

Jordan Harris: No one is in better form right now than Bryson DeChambeau. He also had chances to win the last two Masters. With that, I am cautiously backing the Crushers captain ahead of Jon Rahm and Cameron Young.

James Shearman: Jon Rahm seems like a no-brainer to me, with a victory already this season (LIV Golf Hong Kong) and five consecutive top-five finishes. The 2023 Masters champion excels at Augusta and has a point to prove this week.

Charlie Walker: Justin Rose has been knocking on the door to win the Green Jacket for so long, and this is the year that his consistency finally pays off. He already has a win to his name this season, and his experience is going to be key down the stretch on Sunday as he wins this wide-open tournament.

Peter Lynch: I’m predicting recent form and history to come together for Xander Schauffele this week. He’s on back-to-back PGA Tour top 5s, and has three top 10s from his last three appearances at Augusta National. It’s surely only a matter of time before he returns to major success.
