Bryson DeChambeau will head into Augusta National next week as one of the favorites to win The Masters.
DeChambeau won the last two LIV Golf events and he will be delighted with the current state of his game heading into The Masters.
It is very difficult to find a golf course more perfectly suited to the 32-year-old American’s game than Augusta National.
What is your favourite hole at Augusta National?
The Masters is on the horizon and golf fans are getting VERY excited…
He actually had a great chance to win The Masters in 2025 but he crumbled during the final round as Rory McIlroy went on to win.
Interestingly, DeChambeau was perturbed that McIlroy didn’t speak to him on Sunday at The Masters.
However, he will be far more focused on his own game this time. He has the bit between his teeth and has a real chance now to make his mark at Augusta National.
In fact, DeChambeau has an opportunity to bury demons that have been hanging over him for nearly six years now.
Bryson DeChambeau can atone for Masters mistake in 2020
Back in 2020, DeChambeau made a big mistake just days before the start of The Masters.
When speaking to the press, DeChambeau insisted that Augusta National was a par 67 for him.
“I’m looking at it as a par 67 for me because I can reach all the par fives in two, no problem,“ the man from Dallas, Texas, said.
“If the conditions stay the way they are, that’s what I feel like par is for me. There is definitely a possibility I don’t play well, and I could shoot whatever everyday and shoot a lot over par relative to my par and still play decent.”
The thing is, DeChambeau was actually right with what he said.
If all aspects of his game are in good shape, there is no reason why he should not post a score worse than 67 at Augusta National.

He can easily reach all of the par-fives in two and the third green is within range for him off the tee, if he really wanted to ramp up the speed.
Doing it four times in a row would obviously be very difficult, but he’s clearly more than capable of doing just that.
The bottom line is that he shouldn’t have come out and said that to the world.
This time, he’s more mature and will undoubtedly exude a more respectful tone during his press conferences ahead of The Masters.
Then it will just be a matter of the two-time U.S. Open champion letting his golf do the talking at Augusta National.
Bryson DeChambeau could blow away the field at The Masters
DeChambeau has produced some truly special golf so far in 2026.
He has two wins, a T-3, and two top-25 finishes in the five LIV Golf events he has played this year.
The reason for his fine form? Exceptional driving, incredibly consistent iron play, a much-improved wedge game and elite chipping and putting.
Do you think we will ever see Tiger Woods play professional golf again?
DeChambeau ranks inside the top seven on LIV Golf in both scrambling and putting in 2026.
He is ranked third in driving distance and he has only been swinging at around 85% power all season long.
As a result, he has hit 62% of fairways so far in 2026. To average over 313 yards off the tee and hit almost two out of every three fairways is quite extraordinary.
In addition to all of those things, DeChambeau has worked incredibly hard on dialling in the spin and distance control on his wedges ahead of The Masters.
He has repeatedly said how happy he is with the current state of his game inside 120 yards and his performances at LIV South Africa and LIV Singapore proved just how far he has come with his wedge game.
If DeChambeau brings his best form to The Masters, he could win the tournament at an absolute canter and in doing so, he would finally banish the ghost of 2020.
