The Masters Tournament is here! The Golfing Gazette previews the first round at Augusta National.

As always, the honorary starters will tee off on Thursday morning to get the event underway. Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Tom Watson will have the honor this week.

Then, it will be time for Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Co. to put themselves into position to contend. You can’t win The Masters on day one, but you can lose it.

The tee times for round one of The Masters have been announced.

Scottie Scheffler will play with Justin Thomas and amateur Jose Luis Ballester. Rory McIlroy has been grouped with Ludvig Aberg and Akshay Bhatia.

Augusta weather forecast for The Masters round one

Play was suspended during Monday’s practice rounds due to heavy rain and the threat of thunderstorms.

However, bad weather is not expected to play a factor for the rest of the week, with plenty of sunshine forecast, according to BBC Weather.

How to watch The Masters round one

Golf fans in the United States can watch the first round of The Masters on ESPN from 3 to 7:30 p.m. (Eastern Time).

Additional coverage includes “Morning at The Masters” on Masters YouTube from 9 to 9:30 a.m. and “Welcome to the Masters” on ESPN from 1 to 3 p.m.

The Masters round one key storyline

The biggest storyline at The Masters 2025 is whether Rory McIlroy will finally win the Green Jacket on his 17th attempt.

The world number two has made a habit of starting slowly and finishing strongly at major championships in recent seasons. He must be under par on Thursday.
