Bryson DeChambeau is widely regarded as the longest hitter in professional golf.

DeChambeau began speed training around five years ago, as he bulked up in order to build a better base for the ferocious way in which he swung at the ball.

And his methods have clearly worked, with two US Open titles to his name since 2020.

Whilst he’s not as big now as he was a few years ago, he still has the ability to carry the ball 340 yards through the air with ease.

DeChambeau recently admitted he needs to become more consistent, if he is to win regularly in big championships.

His game is in great shape right now, with the only weakness being the odd erratic shot he hits with his short irons.

However, his superpower is still very much the way that he hits his driver.

There is nobody in professional golf who works harder than DeChambeau, and he will undoubtedly win many more majors throughout the rest of his career.

The American has a rich and fulfilling life away from the game of golf.

DeChambeau visited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway track on Saturday, ahead of the world famous Indy 500 race the following day.

He test drove a car around the track, and got the speedometer up to around 180 mph.

However, that was nowhere near as fast as the ball speed he generated when hitting a driver down the track.

Here’s how far DeChambeau sent his driver down the so-called ‘Brickyard’ on Saturday:

738 yards! That’s quite the achievement from the 31-year-old American!

DeChambeau has sent the ball enormous distances during his attempts to win the World Long Drive Championship.

He also pounded a 480-yard drive during an exhibition match in Montana in 2021.

However, here are his three longest ever recorded drives on the PGA Tour:

Tournament and yearLength of drive
Travelers 2020428 yards
Sentry 2021414 yards
Sentry 2021403 yards

DeChambeau is an absolute joy to watch.

He is a divisive figure, there’s no doubt about that. But what cannot be denied is the positive effect he has had on the game regarding attracting a younger audience to the sport.

DeChambeau’s length off the tee and his alluring social media presence has catapulted him to the top of the list of many golf fans’ favourite players.
