LIV Golf superstar Bryson Dechambeau has been speaking about his golf game and admitted he used to be a ‘terrible’ putter.
Dechambeau is one of the stars of the golfing world and was one of the first huge names to make the jump over to LIV when it launched.
The 30-year-old has won eight times on the PGA Tour, including a US Open, and is widely recognised as one of the very longest hitters in the game.
However, there’s more to his game than just bombing it. Dechambeau has dialled in both his wedge game and putting using scientific methods in recent years. Despite this, the American says that back in college, he was simply woeful with the putter.

Bryson Dechambeau makes admission about his putting
Speaking to Rick Shiels over on his YouTube channel, Dechambeau revealed that back in college, he actually had the ‘yips’ with putting and it took a lot of work to get out of the rut.
“The putting has the most science and it’s pretty reproducible, barring there’s no wind. If the wind comes into play it’s very difficult. You’re going to really struggle to dial it in off the fairways. But the putting remains the same. I was a terrible putter by the way. I was actually bad in college, I had the yips. A lot of it was because I didn’t understand how the ball launched and I didn’t have a lot of cadence in the stroke,” Dechambeau said.
Like many on the LIV tour, Dechambeau is hoping this could be a breakthrough year for golf, with talks of a merger of sorts with the PGA ongoing.
Dechambeau has recently seen Jon Rahm make the move to LIV, while even Rory McIlroy has admitted there is going to be a place in the game for it.
