Tiger Woods is the most successful golfer of all time but even now, approaching 50, fans still yearn to see him win just once more.
Woods is tied at the top with Sam Snead in terms of PGA Tour wins and second only to Jack Nicklaus in the majors category with 15.
In recent years, we’ve been lucky to see Woods even make it through a tournament, never mind win. Constant injuries and surgeries, in addition to Father Time, mean Woods does well to make the cut at the four majors.

However, that still doesn’t mean golf fans and pundits alike can’t dream of another win. And according to Smylie Kaufman, another victory can never be ruled out for Tiger.

Tiger Woods told what he needs to do to win again on the PGA Tour
Speaking on the latest episode of his Smylie Show podcast, Kaufman got onto Tiger Woods and just if we could see him win again.
And according to Kaufman, Woods might well have to channel his inner Fred Couples to get win number 83.
“I was sitting here thinking about where Tiger is at in his career and we know that he is not able to put the reps in, he can’t play as many tournaments. So it is going to be very difficult for him to have a whatever chapter you want to call this in his career, it feels like we have had so many with Tigers,” Kaufman commented.
“I feel like moving forward, for the most part, if we saw him pick off a PGA Tour event, great. I don’t see that quite as much. Maybe it is because he won’t get the reps in. But I still feel like, just like how Freddie Couples would show up to the Masters, he would find a way to fight his way into contention.
“He did that for a five year period when he was probably playing on the Champions Tour but old enough to have enough pop in his bat, but it’s a golf course which doesn’t change much and he could play it year after year with all the course knowledge that he has.”
Continuing on about the potential for Tiger to win again, Kaufman suggested that he’s seen enough in recent weeks to suggest that at some point, Tiger can contend.
“To me that feels like the only place Tiger can still have that one more magical moment. I know you can look at his data from the last however many years and if he makes the cut he is at the back end of the deal and we are lucky to see him play four days.
“It seems to me now that the pop in the bat is still there and he’s not really labouring around as much. He is walking on flat terrain but it seems like whatever surgery he has had… I know the hope meter is still low on the bar but out of 100 if we were at one, maybe we are closer to 10 now. I have seen enough.
“The rust is definitely there, you can see it at TGL at times, but I’m not ruling out that Tiger can make the cut at the Masters and still be part of a storyline. I think that is still possible, based on what we have seen at TGL or an the PNC.”
How Tiger Woods compared to Rory McIlroy in the TGL
The modern day golfer is very much about ball speed and club-head speed and that was something Tiger Woods was far and away the top dog with in his prime.
Nowadays, he has to rely on skill and experience over speed but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t got a big hit in the locker either.

Indeed, looking at the TGL numbers this week compared to Rory McIlroy, Woods was pretty impressive.
Woods hit 181mph ball speed with his driver, compared to McIlroy’s 189mph. Still, the PGA Tour average is 170mph and McIlroy is one of the game’s greatest and biggest hitters ever.
Woods can hold his head high and if he can stay injury free then maybe, just maybe, we see him finally usurp Snead as the top man in the sport.
