Another major, and another miserable few days for Tiger Woods, who has limped out of the tournament on 14-over par at Royal Troon.

Once again, much was expected of Tiger as he competed for the final time this season but as has been the case throughout 2024, he struggled massively.

Of course, Woods is not the only one to struggle around Royal Troon in the opening two days as vicious winds and the course’s natural trickiness make for a tough test.

But being the fierce competitor he is, Woods will be upset to be so far down the leaderboard.

With that being three out of the four majors where he’s failed to make the cut, there has to be question marks over whether Woods returns in 2025.

However, watching Woods walk up the 18th and take in another round of applause from an adoring crowd, Sky Sports’ Laura Davies believes she’s spotted a clue to his mindset.

Sky Sports pundit makes claim about Tiger Woods’ future after his Open nightmare at Royal Troon

As is always the case with Woods now when he’s on his final hole, he got a rapturous reception from the galleries.

And looking on at that situation, Sky Sports‘ Davies has suggested that Tiger’s reaction hints we haven’t seen the last of him just yet.

“We didn’t see any emotion from him walking up 18, so I think we will see him back here next year, hopefully a lot fitter,” Davies commented.

Woods has some big decisions to make

For what it’s worth, Woods didn’t look in the same amount of pain around Troon as he had done in the previous events and that in itself is a positive.

However, he must have some thoughts in his head about packing things in.

Colin Montgomerie caused controversy by suggesting Woods retire and earlier in the week, Woods hit back at those comments.

But the reality is that Monty was right in a way and Woods has to consider whether he can still do the business.

14 over is an abysmal effort really and for a player who is known for being a serial winner, that sort of score will sting massively.
