Shane Lowry might have carded a stunning 62 in his third round at the PGA but he still found time to be a touch disappointed.

The Irishman was on fire and came from nowhere really to card a stunning nine under par to put himself right in the mix to win at Valhalla on Sunday.

For Lowry, it all came down to a superb show of putting after also excelling with his iron shots to put himself in position to putt for birdies and eagles.

However, like most golfers in the world, Lowry still wasn’t 100% happy with how everything panned out.

Shane Lowry explains his one disappointment from his third round 62 at Valhalla

Speaking in an interview after the round with quotes from the BBC, Lowry admitted he was still a bit disappointed at missing the chance to shoot 31.

“It was pretty good. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed every minute of it,” Lowry said.

“Probably the most disappointed anyone can ever be shooting 62. I knew what was at stake [on the final putt]. I just didn’t hit the ball hard enough. Had it on a good read and just broke away from the hole.

“I went out there with a job to do today, and my job was to try to get myself back in the tournament, and I definitely did that.”

Shane Lowry is just like one of us

It is the most ‘golf thing’ going to go and shoot a round of 62 and then still come up with a reason to be a bit disappointed.

Of course, Lowry would have loved to have seen the putt on 18 drop in and golf fans around the world would have been delighted to see a record-breaking 61 as well.

And as we know, Lowry is that good he’ll see it as a missed opportunity.

But it just sums up how a golfer’s mind works. No matter how well you play or what big moments you can pull out of a round, there’s always something nagging in your mind that could have gone better.

Lowry, then, is just like one of us!
