Ted Scott has had the best seat in the house on the PGA Tour over the last few years having been alongside Scottie Scheffler for so much of his success.
It is remarkable to think Scottie Scheffler had not won a PGA Tour event this time four years ago. He was even a slightly contentious pick for the 2021 Ryder Cup.
The winners of the four majors in 2026 will be…
Let us know who you are backing to triumph in next year's biggest events
The world number one is now well on his way to cementing himself as an all-time great. Scheffler has already won four majors, while he is a US Open victory away from completing the Career Grand Slam.
It is no surprise that some cannot help but make comparisons with Tiger Woods.
The part of Scottie Scheffler’s game which is on Tiger Woods’ level
There is no question that Scheffler is the most dominant player the game has seen since Woods. The 29-year-old has won 15 times worldwide since the start of the 2024 season.
His worst finish in a major in 2025 was tied for seventh. And it seems that his caddie Ted Scott believes that some of the comparisons with Woods are valid.
Speaking to Grant Horvat, Scott was asked about Scheffler being put in the same category as the 15-time major champion.
He did suggest that one part of Scheffler’s game is on Woods’ level.

“I think Tiger was very dominant with his distance and very precise with his irons. I think Scottie’s iron game is very comparable,” he said.
“He doesn’t hit it as far past people like Tiger did back then. Think about ’97 Tiger Woods winning The Masters. He was hitting pitching wedge into par fives, and you’re like what’s going on? And then, you see the emotion out of Tiger. He’s a very fist-pumping kind of guy; exciting and electric. And Scottie’s more quiet and to himself.
“On paper, people don’t think maybe what Scottie’s doing is as impressive, but to me, he’s almost like a longer Jim Furyk, who was very down the middle and on the green, but he’s also got the precision iron game that Tiger had. It’s a nasty combination.”
The frightening consistency of Scottie Scheffler’s iron game on the PGA Tour
Woods himself lauded Scheffler’s iron play ahead of this year’s Hero World Challenge.
And the statistics certainly back up the idea that Scheffler is, by far, the best player on the PGA Tour in that category right now.
How many majors do you think Scottie Scheffler will win during his career?
The world number one already has four majors under his belt
Scheffler has led the PGA Tour in strokes gained approach in each of the last three years, while he was fourth in 2022.
That is a truly remarkable run to dominate that category for so long. That is certainly something Woods would have done at the peak of his powers.
The question now is whether anyone will be able to catch Scheffler in the coming years.
