Scottie Scheffler won yet again on the PGA Tour as he made it two successive years of winning The Memorial with another near faultless display.

Scheffler is making a habit of coming in clutch in final rounds and he did so once again today as he carded a round of 70 to see off Ben Griffin at Muirfield Village.

The world number one now has three wins from his last four starts on the PGA Tour and has very much cemented himself as the world’s best player.

Of course, for Scheffler to win at ‘Jack’s Place’ once again is a big one for him.

Indeed, after securing a second consecutive win at the event, Scheffler has actually been compared to the great Nicklaus, such is his quality.

Why Scottie Scheffler is just like Jack Nicklaus

Speaking live on air after Scheffler made yet another putt for par during his final round, Sky’s Simon Holmes made the comparison with the great Jack Nicklaus.

Commenting on how efficient and mistake free Scheffler is, Holmes pointed out it’s exactly what Nicklaus did in his prime.

“It’s almost like he plays like Nicklaus used to play,” Holmes said on air.

“Just faultless. No mistakes, so what happens is you have to count on the fact he’s making no mistakes, which means you’ve then got to force something and then you’re forcing things at the wrong time when the course doesn’t give you it and that’s when the mistakes come.

“You know that’s a part of Scottie Scheffler’s dominance. They know that he’s not coming back. So if you’re going to beat him, you’ve gotta go and do it yourself, it’s hard.”

Could Scottie Scheffler be the one to break Nicklaus’ major record?

It might seem like a real stretch to suggest Scottie Scheffler can go on to win 18 or more majors but on the current form he’s on, it’s not impossible.

Yes, he has to show the consistency that so few players show in a full career but at just 28, he has his prime ahead of him really and it could well be on.

He’s won three majors already and you’d not bet against him adding at least one more this year.

If he was to win one more every season for the next decade straight, he’d suddenly be one behind Tiger Woods and within touching distance of Jack Nicklaus.

The mere thought of someone getting close to Tiger and Nicklaus was never considered but with Scheffler playing so good, the conversation will start.
