It was another week and another masterclass in world class golf for Scottie Scheffler, who won The Memorial Tournament to continue his quite superb run of form.
Scheffler went into the final round a stroke ahead and while Ben Griffin battled hard all day, the world number one simply had too much and won out.
As usual, Scheffler put himself in good spots the entire round and made big putts when he needed to.
However, while his work from the fairways and around the greens was impressive, it was his driving that was so impressive once more.
Scheffler’s technique and the use of his feet continue to mesmerise people but according to Sky’s golf analyst Nick Dougherty, Scheffler is actually better than Tiger Woods off the tee.

Scottie Scheffler told he’s better than Tiger Woods with driver
With Scheffler consistently finding the fairway through the final round and once again showcasing his brilliance, the world number one proved once again just how good he is.
And in a discussion with his fellow pundits live on Sky Sports, Nick Dougherty has claimed Scheffler is ahead of Woods when it comes to driving.
“I can’t remember ever seeing anyone… only Tiger, who was incredible with his irons, and Mickelson are on the same level,” Simon Holmes said.
“I think he drives it better than Tiger though. More consistently,” Dougherty chipped in.
Adding to the discussion, Dame Laura Davies then suggested Scheffler is fully in control when it matters.
“Yeah, he has got that shape. That power fade. We know he has pulled a few left this week and two weeks ago but he just seems to control it towards the end of the week and he starts hitting fairways. When he hits fairways he hits it pin high and then he holes putts,” Davies said.
“If he does this for 15 more years then he might even be better than Tiger,” Dougherty then suggested.
Scottie Scheffler’s driving compared to Tiger Woods
The easiest way to look at the comparison between Scheffler and Woods is to look at Tiger in 2005, where many consider he was at his very best.
Both players are superb off the tee, and the stats show it as well.
| Tiger Woods 2005 | Scottie Scheffler 2025 | |
| Driving distance | 2nd | 68th |
| Total driving | 86th | 7th |
| SG off the tee | 4th | 2nd |
| Driving accuracy | 191st | 26th |
As we can see, Tiger had the distance back in his prime and was high up the list in terms of strokes gained.
However, it is Scheffler’s accuracy that really sets him apart from Woods, which is what the Sky crew are touching on in their analysis here.
If Scheffler carries on, he’s going to end up not far off Woods’ haul come the end of his career.
