Phil Mickelson is no stranger to doing some weird and wonderful things on the golf course, with the six-time major champion undoubtedly one of the biggest characters the game has seen over the last few decades.
Whatever you think of Phil Mickelson, it cannot be denied that few players seemed to play the game quite like the 54-year-old.
Mickelson has never been afraid to take risks. In fact, he often relishes the chance to steal the show, particularly when viewers may be tempted to doubt him.
So perhaps it is not a surprise that he seems to be a big fan of what one Korn Ferry Tour player has done with his bag this week.
Phil Mickelson reacts to Korn Ferry Tour player’s unique bag setup this week
Christo Lamprecht is perhaps best known for being the amateur who was tied for the lead after the first round of The Open Championship back in 2023. The South African shot a 66 to sit alongside Tommy Fleetwood and Emiliano Grillo.
The 24-year-old is now predominantly plying his trade on the second tier in the United States. And it seems that Lamprecht has one of the more unique setups in the current game.

As shown in a video posted by the Korn Ferry Tour, Lamprecht explained that he had five wedges in his bag, as well as two drivers – with one of the drivers boasting a shorter shaft and a higher loft.
Of course, that means that drivers and wedges take up half of his bag. But someone who approves of the setup is Mickelson, as he reacted to the video on social media…
When Phil Mickelson won a major with two drivers in the bag
Mickelson knows better than most how helpful having two drivers in the bag can be. Mickelson won the 2006 Masters with two drivers.
One was set up for the draw, while the other was set up for the fade. And it proved to be an inspired move, with Mickelson winning by two shots at Augusta National.
Admittedly, it is not going to help Lamprecht win the UNC Health Championship this week. But perhaps it bodes well that the youngster is prepared to make bold decisions.
