For most people, getting invited to play a proper PGA Tour event is the dream but for popular YouTube sensation Grant Horvat, it’s causing him quite the issue on the inside as he weighs up his options.

Horvat revealed recently that he’d been given a sponsor’s invite to the Barracuda Championship later this year but as yet, he was undecided as to play.

The American has a huge following on social media and after winning the Creator Classic this year, is becoming more and more a household name in golf.

However, Horvat is unsure over whether to take a spot in a proper event.

Indeed, he’s so eaten up by it that he’s confided in world number one Scottie Scheffler in just what to do.

What Scottie Scheffler has told Grant Horvat to do with his PGA Tour event invite

Scottie Scheffler is at the point where he’ll never need an invite to a big golf event ever again but for Grant Horvat and others in those circles, invites are much rarer.

However, when Horvat asked Scheffler’s advice, the world number one was adamant that Horvat should play and that he has indeed earned it.

Speaking to Scheffler on his latest YouTube video, the pair had an interesting conversation on the subject.

“I really want to do it. But what would you do? You play golf for a living, that’s what you wanted to do with your life. There is a lot of emotions – like I don’t know where I stand on it,” Horvat admitted.

“Like you don’t want to take the spot away from somebody?,” Scheffler replied. “Exactly. It’s a tough decision!”

Scheffler, though, then explained why Horvat simply has to take his chance.

“Well, I get it but I also don’t get it. You didn’t earn the spot because you haven’t played good enough. It’s a sponsors invite. You have done enough in the game of golf or around the game of golf to earn that spot. Just because you haven’t shot the scores in tournament golf doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be playing in the tournament. It’s good exposure for the tournament. It’s an opposite field against that needs the exposure, there’s a reason they are giving you the spot. Personally I would not hesitate to take it.”

Looking surprised by Scheffler’s response, Horvat then suggested he might well take up the offer.

“Dang. We might be playing in a PGA Tour event. I think I will have Wesley caddie for me too.”

Grant Horvat should listen to Scottie Scheffler

Horvat is a good guy and you can see the reasoning behind him being unsure over whether to go into the event.

However, with Scheffler’s backing and the sponsors clearly keen for him to be there, it really is a no-brainer for Horvat now. He just has to get involved.

YouTube now plays such a big role in the world of golf that having Horvat involved brings more eyes to the product and also inspires younger generations out there in showing what is possible.

It doesn’t matter how he plays necessarily. But Horvat has to play and with Scheffler’s endorsement, has little reason to turn it down.
