Scottie Scheffler picked up win number six of the season at the Procore Championship and had to see off Ryder Cup teammate Ben Griffin along the way.
Scheffler roared into form once again when it mattered, shooting a final round of 67 as Griffin could only manage a score of 70.
It meant Scheffler had done enough to win by one shot and in a week where Team USA were preparing for the Ryder Cup as a team, the world number one showed again he is the top dog right now.
As for Ben Griffin, well, the story continues with him and while disappointed not to have won, the American has had a superb season.
At one point, it looked like he might hold on and win. But with Scheffler playing well and ahead of him on the course, the pressure told.
Indeed, Scheffler has now revealed that in unusual circumstances, there wasn’t much in the way of being able to tell how Griffin was doing.

Scottie Scheffler explains why he couldn’t tell where Ben Griffin was in round four of the Procore
With Scheffler playing ahead of Griffin, there was always a chance that the new kid on the block would notice Scheffler’s form and crumble.
In the end, it panned out that way but according to Scheffler, a lack of scoreboards in Napa meant it was hard to keep up.
“You know I knew I was going to have to play well, had some pretty talented guys to chase down,” Scheffler said.
“I was fortunate enough, got off to a good start on the front nine.”
Questioned on if he was aware of Ben Griffin as he played, Scheffler conceded maybe not as much as usual.
“I mean you’re always aware but I don’t think there were as many scoreboards here as we’re used to. Ben was actually playing behind me so it was hard to keep track. So I did my best, stay in my own world, keep making birdies. The golf course got really tough late afternoon and the greens were tough but I did my job and stayed patient,” Scheffler continued.
In terms of the Ryder Cup, Scheffler admitted everyone is excited.
“I mean we’re all excited for the Ryder Cup to get here. This was a big step for us, getting all the guys together to stay sharp and be ready. I always focus on my preparation and if I get to the first tee and know I’ve done all I can to prepare then that’s the best I can do.”

What Ben Griffin said about trying to beat Scottie Scheffler
While Ben Griffin has had a superb season on the PGA Tour in 2025, this was very much a case of being witness to the world’s best showing you how it’s done.
With Griffin playing just okay, Scheffler went into his usual third or fourth gear and in the end, had too much.
Indeed, Griffin admitted it was fully expected as he saw Scheffler leapfrog him.
“Well, you know, you expect it. I knew I needed to shoot a lower round. Just the fact that I had a chance shooting 2 under, 3 under, I honestly thought I needed to go a little bit lower today. He’s a hell of a player, he’s got the resume that’s better than pretty much everyone here. He’s just like every other player, everyone can beat everyone, you’ve just got to play better,” Griffin admitted.
Still, it will have been pleasing for Keegan Bradley to see Griffin playing so well and come Bethpage, this is a duo we might actually see out there together.
