Scottie Scheffler just fell short in another PGA Tour win, with Min Woo Lee edging him out at the Houston Open.

Lee has praised Scheffler after holding him off at the Houston Open, which the Australian won by one shot.

Scheffler and Gary Woodland tied for second at Memorial Park Golf Course, where Lee clinched his maiden PGA Tour win.

Lee was criticised for taking half an hour on the eighth hole during his final round, having had difficulty at the par-five.

The Australian also found himself in trouble at the par-five 16th, but managed to hold his nerve to come out on top.

Scottie Scheffler praises Houston Open winner Min Woo Lee

Lee had been waiting quite some time for his first PGA Tour title, having turned pro all the way back in 2019.

But he had been threatening only top 10 finishes earlier this season, finishing T12 and T11 at the WM Phoenix Open and Cognizant Classic respectively.

The Australian has now finally got over the line, with Woo Lee praised by world number one Scheffler for his efforts in Houston.

Asked if he was watching the leaderboard, especially on the back nine, the American said: “Well, yeah, I think you always want to be aware of what’s going on, just trying to put as much pressure on Min Woo as I could have.

“I was hoping to be able to do that on the front nine, I wasn’t able to get off to a good enough start. And he played some really good golf.

“I think he made one mistake on 16, but I think he did some really good stuff out there and he just went out and beat us this week.”
