Scottie Scheffler is among the PGA Tour players already returning to action following the US Open as they take on the Travelers Championship.
Scheffler was proud of his mental game at the US Open, where the world number one clinched a T7 finish.
The major championship was won by J.J. Spaun on one-under, with Scheffler joined by Sam Burns and Jon Rahm on four-over.
Scheffler and Spaun will now play alongside each other in rounds one and two of the Travelers Championship, the latest PGA Tour event in the calendar.
The world number one won the tournament this time last year, defeating Tom Kim in a playoff at TPC River Highlands.

Scottie Scheffler thinks one PGA Tour record will not be broken for a long time
Scheffler has been speaking to the media ahead of his title defence, where he was tasked with discussing Omar Uresti’s PGA Tour record of nine consecutive birdies.
Asked why he thinks the 1994 record hasn’t been broken and how difficult it is to card consecutive birdies, Scheffler replied: “Omar made nine birdies in a row? Wow, I’ve never made close to nine birdies in a row.

“Why is that record so… has lasted so long? I think that’s really difficult, and the courses out here, they’re only trying to make them more difficult for whatever reason.
“Nine birdies in a row, that’s pretty ridiculous golf. That’s about as close to perfection as you’ll probably get in the game of golf. I don’t think that will be beat anytime soon.”

Rory McIlroy says what is the ‘worst thing’ a golfer can do after hearing PGA Tour birdie record
As he mentioned, Scheffler hasn’t exactly come close to matching Uresti’s record, despite his stunning form over the years.
His best this year is four, which falls well short of the tally Uresti posted in the third round of the 1994 Shreveport Open.

That helped him to secure his first career Korn Ferry Tour title, and broke the Tour-sanctioned record set by Chi Chi Rodriguez at the 1987 Silver Pages Classic.
Mark Calcavecchia made nine straight birdies at the 2009 RBC Canadian Open, while Kevin Chappell did the same at the 2019 A Military Tribute.

Another with four successive birdies this year, Rory McIlroy also shared his take on the record, saying: “I mean, I make two birdies in a row, and I’m thinking, ooh.
“So I think it’s more of a mental thing where you start to make a few birdies in a row and you start to think about it.
“I think that’s the worst thing you can do. You just got to try to get out of your own way when you’re on a run like that.
“I think it will be a long time when you see someone with 10 birdies in a row out here, especially with how difficult the setups are getting and how tough the courses are.”
